NC370-MTX-VTV : Set Top PC with EM 8471 MPEG-4 streaming
Set-Top PC with 3 modes of video output, to suit different viewing requirements :
- VGA + video on TV (using VGA monitor + TV set),
- Video on VGA (using VGA monitor only), and
- VGA overlay on TV + Video on TV (using TV set only)
NC370-MTX-VTV is an all-in-one Multimedia PC board. Based on VIA CLE266 chip set, it
incorporates MPEG-4 hardware decoder on board, as well as VGA, LAN, I/O and riser card
for 2 PCI slots.
We added a electronic MUX circuit that allows the user to freely choose amongst the 3
video output modes. It is most suited as a set-top PC for software developers and system
integrators to develop complicated set-top box solutions. NC 370-MTX-VTV's features
can cater for almost any Set Top PC requirement.
The NC-370-MTX-VTV ships with Windows/Linux drivers . In addition, Linux-based streaming API can be licensed from Sigma Designs, making it ideal for developing complicated solutions such as Pay Per View for the hotel industry, and VOD streaming for ISPs.
VGA Mode
VGA monitor is required for displaying the Windows/Linux VGA screen. Ideal for VOD menu and video selection. Under this mode, the user selects the Video from the VGA monitor, and enjoys high quality video on TV set.
VGA-overlay onto TV Mode
We offer VGA overlay onto TV, such that users can view the Windows or Linux interface on TV (such as VOD menu), and when the video is being played, an internal MUX (switch) will switch over to video output mode and directly outputs the video from EM 8471 onto the TV screen.
The result is crystal clear video on TV, yet allowing users to select videos from the VGA menu. Under this mode, there is only the TV set for both VGA display and video playback.
Advanced On Screen Display (OSD) Mode
NC 370 supports full-screen 8-bit OSD on the TV screen. It provides flicker filtering and alpha mixing with the video on, enabling sophisticated menus and graphics to be overlayed onto the background video. This feature is similar to the OSD of a DVD player.
Under this mode, the video can be played on TV (video output directly from 8471), and then the user can pop up a OSD overlay, which can be both text or graphics (256 color), and can select new videos, or simply view advertising messages on TV while the video is being played in the background.
ISMA Client
NC 370 comes with Linux based streaming API, which supports ISMA streaming MPEG-4 video from open sources such as Apple's Darwin Server, or Video LAN.
This allows developers to develop streaming MPEG-4 solutions using readily available components, and with minimal start up cost and effort.
