Key to the heart of VMP (Video Mate Pro) is the Sigma Designs EM8621 media processor with ARMS 7 built-in. Video Mate Pro includes S-video/composite video, SCART RGB and YUV output, SP/DIF and down-mixed Lt/Rt stereo audio outputs, MPEG 2/3/4 and WMV-9 decoder and Ethernet support, plus mini-PCI for wi-fi.
Based on the Sigma Designs award-winning REALmagic Video Streaming Technology, VMP provides a highly integrated solution for WMV-9, MPEG-4, MPEG-2 HDTV decoding.
VMP is the ideal slim client for video walls and kiosks. Video Mate Pro has built in IDE which allows a hard disk to be installed. It communicates with the server remotely via Internet or WAN connection.
When it visits the server, VMP will down load the assigned playlists and weekly schedules, which then instruct it to playback the preset video files according to the preset time.
VMP then starts to download the assigned videos and text messages and store them onto its local hard disk, and start to play them back in sequence. In this way, VMP acts as a HDTV player and video wall deocder.
With embedded Linux, middleware and media client, Video Mate Pro is ideal for digital set top box for ISP's, broadband content providers, and for hotel VOD deployments. A WinCE version is also available, if the customer are willing to purchase MicroSoft licenses. Under WinCE, DRM can be made available from Microsoft/Sigma.
Since Video Mate Pro supports 10/100 LAN or wi-fi, it can be linked up to the intranet as video clients for streaming VOD solutions, and is most suited as internet appliance for pay-per-view, or hotel entertainment/payment systems.
